I Won't Kneel

A number of cultures within Uganda require women to kneel down while greeting other members of the society. They say that it is a sign of respect. The Jopadhola, a small community of people located in Tororo -Eastern Uganda strongly believe in this culture. I have always questioned my authenticity as a Jopadhola girl because I can’t bring myself to kneel down while greeting anybody. In this documentary I travel to my village in search of answers to questions that have always taunted me in regard to this tradition.
